In recent years, various issues affecting athletes have become growing social concerns, including online abuse and excessive criticism on social media, as well as unauthorized photography and sexual harassment targeting female athletes.

RESPECTion! is a project that brings together athletes, sports organizations, companies, and the media under the vision of "Making Respect a Culture." It promotes a culture of mutual respect while working to create an environment where athletes can pursue their goals with confidence. Through these efforts, the project aims to spread the spirit of respect from the world of sports to society as a whole.

Commenting on her appointment, Okuhara said:

"Athletes are human beings, just like everyone else. Our sensitivity allows us to appreciate and absorb many positive experiences, but it also means we can be deeply affected by hurtful comments, including online abuse. I hope for a society where people are connected and treat one another with respect—not only in the world of sports, but in every aspect of life. I hope this initiative encourages people to reflect on the importance of showing compassion, reaching out to one another, and supporting each other."

As an active athlete, Okuhara will continue to promote the importance of mutual respect through this initiative while contributing to the creation of an environment where everyone can pursue their goals with confidence and peace of mind.
